We adopted him from birth and we feel extremely lucky. We are so happy.
We named him Chayton Lee Cooksey. He has my dads initials and my dads middle name. My dad would be so happy.
We, unfortunately, have received some negative remarks and some yelling about the adoption from family that has hurt us, especially Brian. It was really uncalled for. This should be a happy time (which it is) for us and it should be good news. But, due to issues that have happened in the past (with people telling lies about Brian and I) I guess it means that certain people feel they are entitled to say mean things to us....things that are completely NOT true. The only thing we can do is continue to let them think what they want, we have tried and tried, to the point of exhaustion, to tell them the truth about things. I guess sometimes it is more fun to believe and delve into the gossip and lies. Believing and participating in things like that will make a person's life more exciting...especially if they are already unhappy in their own lives....or confused about what and who they want in their life.
Anyone who would like to say mean, smart ass, selfish, untrue things to us about us adopting, can go ahead and know that they will have nothing to do with us any longer. We seriously do not know what is wrong with some people, people who should be supportive and have received our support in the past.
Well, thought I would just get that message out there about people who want to put us down and just make it clear as to what will happen. Although, we should have never been told the things we were by certain family.
We love our son and we have so many people that welcome him with open arms. Chay is loved more than he could ever imagine.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, don't focus on the negative. ALWAYS focus on the positive. People are going to say things no matter what. Now you have your own little family and you have to do what is best. Unfortunately, sometimes that means cutting the cord.
